Special Education Advocates is a family organization.  Founders Amy and Derek are Educational Diagnosticians with a diverse network of school staff.  They utilize a deep understanding of the system to ensure your core questions and concerns are addressed.  Unfortunately, sometimes school staff discount parent participation.  But, as the parent, you understand your child's needs better than anyone.  We will work with you to communicate effectively and hold the school accountable.  Know all of your rights, including the fact that you have one of only two votes in the Individual Education Plan meeting.  Online IEP meeting advocacy is available everywhere.  In person IEP meeting advocacy is available anywhere in the greater Houston area.  Call, text or email now for a free consultation. We are informed by a diverse cohort of educational professionals.  As Educational Diagnosticians, we facilitate IEP meetings, conduct assessment and consult with all stakeholders.

Amy Ponfick and Derek Taylor

Co-Founders

Amy has 3 years experience as a Special Education Teacher and Department Chair and 16 years as an Educational Diagnostician .  Derek has 7 years experience as an ESL Teacher and Coach and 10 years as an Educational Diagnostician.  They will use their expertise and understanding of the system to get you results.
